In a large skillet, sautee sausage until browned
While sausage is browning, boil a large pan of water for pasta
Remove sausage from skillet, set aside
Add diced onion to the skillet, cook until golden brown, add minced garlic and crushed red pepper. Stir for 30 seconds until fragrant
Add vodka, stir, add crushed tomato, salt and pepper. Simmer for 30 minutes.
Add pasta to pasta water and cook until al dente, drain pasta. Let sauce continue to simmer while pasta cooks.
Add pasta to sauce, add cheese and fresh basil and mix to incorporate.
Serve!
